45 people rescued at the Nepal border
45 people, more than half of them children, were rescued all across the Nepal border throughout the late summer.
One victim was traveling with her 2-year-old daughter. The children targeted by traffickers were all between 14 and 17 years old. One brave family chose to press charges against the trafficker who kidnapped, abused and tried to cross the border with their daughter. Every week, our relentless border agents stop dozens of travelers to check for instances of human trafficking, and their efforts save hundreds every year.

Most of those rescued had been forced to sell their bodies just to survive. Others were rescued from sex crimes or being sexually exploited by a human trafficker for money. The youngest was only 9 years old, and three of the survivors were boys. All of the survivors have been enrolled in our Community Care Program, where they’ll learn to maneuver through the trauma they endured and be equipped to live free.
