73 people, deceived into believing that a better job, romantic relationship or better opportunity were waiting across the border, have been rescued from disappearing into brothels and forced labor.

31 children rescued from sex trafficking in Thailand
Multiple operations over the course of a single month led to the rescue of 31 children.

In addition to the children, six 18 and 19-year-old girls were also rescued from sexual exploitation. Though still plagued by some of the highest child trafficking in the world, the Thai government has worked hard to fight the problem, earning them an improved standing on the U.S. Department of State’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report last year. 45 people, more than half of them children, were rescued all across the Nepal border throughout the late summer.

One victim was traveling with her 2-year-old daughter. The children targeted by traffickers were all between 14 and 17 years old. One brave family chose to press charges against the trafficker who kidnapped, abused and tried to cross the border with their daughter. Every week, our relentless border agents stop dozens of travelers to check for instances of human trafficking, and their efforts save hundreds every year.
